Seeker Music Acquires Hitmaker Kosine’s Publishing Catalog and Partners on Samplémoose Initiative

April 18th, 2024 - Seeker Music, the songwriter-led music rights, publishing, and record company, has acquired the publishing catalog of multi-platinum, GRAMMY-nominated producer and songwriter Marcos "Kosine" Palacios, which includes smash hits "Anaconda" (Nicki Minaj), "Birthday Cake" (Rihanna) and "DANCE (A$$)" (Big Sean), the soundtracks for hit FOX series Empire and Star, and other notable records from the likes of Justin Bieber, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, and all of Kosine's work as one half of the LA-based production duo Da Internz.

Seeker has also tapped Kosine as their first ever Samplémoose Ambassador, rolling out a robust slate of creative collaborations focused on transforming Seeker's decades-spanning catalog of classic copyrights into future chart-topping records.

In a trailblazing, and expansive, producer-publisher creative partnership, Kosine, who has already had many hit records (like "Anaconda," which samples "Baby Got Back") successfully flipping older songs into newer ones, will, himself, create original music utilizing Seeker's catalog, and together with Seeker's creative team, identify and co-sign new producer talent, curate catalog flipping songwriting camps at Seeker's new recording studios and host an educational masterclass-esque platform, mentoring rising producer talent.

Soft-launched in Summer 2023, Samplémoose is a platform that delivers a collection of loops, beats, & flip-starts that Seeker's creative team curates (and identifies as easyclear to aid in licensing) and makes available to a select group of producers, artists, and songwriters, inspiring and incentivizing them in innovative ways to flip cuts from the catalog into brand-new music. 2024 Best New Artist GRAMMY nominee, and Soul Train Awards Best New Artist winner Coco Jones' song "Double Back," which flips Seeker catalog cut "Rain", performed by SWV (written by Brian Alexander Morgan), is one of Samplémoose's first big successes (watch Coco + SWV perform both songs together at the Soul Train Awards HERE).

Other notable new records that have flipped the Seeker catalog include Shaboozey's single "A Bar Song" (flipped from J-Kwon's "Tipsy"), Chris Brown's "Freak (from Nelly's "Air Force Ones"), Teyana Taylor's "Freak" (from Adina Howard's "Freak Like Me"), and IVE ft. Saweetie's "All Night" (from Icona Pop's song of the same name).

Last week (April 10-12), Kosine and Seeker hosted their first joint songwriter celebration with focused sessions. "Samplémoose Sessions", curated by Kosine & Seeker Music, featured nearly two dozen multi-hyphenate music creators coming together to create new records utilizing Seeker's classic catalog of hits. Some of the songs that were flipped from the Seeker-SAMPLÉMOOSE vaults included Christopher Cross's "Sailing" and "Arthur's Theme," The Go-Go's "We Got The Beat," Whitney Houston's "Million Dollar Bill" and Fantasia's "When I See U," among a dozen or so others. Photos and full list of 'Sessions' participants are below.

It's all part of Seeker's creative approach, and strategy, that treats catalog and frontline, one and the same, and CEO, and hit songwriter (Rihanna's "SOS," Beyonce's "Halo"), Evan Bogart's take on what a modern-day publishing and record company should be. Rather than just acquiring catalogs, Seeker's proactive management leads to each catalog getting a bespoke frontline marketing and creative treatment.

"In joining forces with Seeker Music and the Samplémoose initiative, I feel a profound sense of alignment with a team that not only values the legacy of music but also pioneers new pathways for creativity and innovation. This partnership marks a significant milestone in my career, offering a unique platform to reimagine the classics while nurturing the next generation of talent. I'm thrilled to embark on this journey, blending tradition with innovation, and to contribute to the music industry in a way that resonates across generations."

Evan Bogart added "When we started acquiring catalogs at Seeker, I only was interested in songs I wish I wrote, or projects I wish I had worked on, and that's hands-down, undeniably Kosine's body of work. Me and Kos go way back and have been collaborating on music for almost 15 years. Now, we get to write our next chapter together, working closely on Samplémoose, and investing in each other, in ways a publishing company and producer haven't before. It's a major honor to have this opportunity to build with him."
