The number of mobile network users continues to grow

In the last quarter of 2022, users made fewer outgoing calls and less telephone traffic from national mobile networks. They also sent fewer SMSs and about as many MMSs as a year ago, but transferred more data.

The number of mobile network users continues to grow

At the end of 2022, there were almost 2,675,000 mobile network users in Slovenia. In one year, their number went up by 3%. There were more subscribers as well as prepaid users. The increase of business subscribers was the highest, namely 4%.

Users called less and talked on the phone for a shorter time

Over 483 million outgoing calls from Slovene mobile networks were recorded. This was 3% fewer than in the same quarter of 2021. National outgoing mobile calls also decreased by 3%. The number of international calls stayed at the same annual level.
Almost 22 million hours of total outgoing traffic from Slovene mobile networks were recorded. Outgoing mobile traffic decreased by 7% over the same quarter in the previous year. At the annual level, national outgoing mobile traffic also decreased by 7% and international by 8%.

The number of MMSs sent by both private and business users remained at the same annual level

Almost 566 million SMS messages were sent, 7% fewer than in the 4th quarter of 2021. Private users sent 9% fewer SMS messages and business users 2% fewer. In addition, users sent almost 31 million MMS messages or about the same as a year before.

Data transfer over the mobile network continues to grow

Over 94 million gigabytes of data were transferred via the mobile network, which is the most ever. Compared to the last quarter of 2021, users, both business and private, transferred 44% more data.

Only the number of Internet connections via optical fiber access went up

At the end of 2022, almost 683,000 broadband Internet connections were used in Slovenia. In one year, the total number of broadband Internet connections increased by 2%. Of these, only the number of optical fiber access connections, which account for 52% of all broadband connections, increased, namely by 9%.

METHODOLOGICAL NOTE
Provisional data for the 4th quarter of 2022 will become final with the publication of provisional data for the 4th quarter of 2023 at the end of March 2024. In the final data any potential corrections or revisions that will occur during the year will be included.
