Join the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center on Thursday, May 30, for a day-long series dedicated to the benefits of and strategies for integrating gamified course content, badging and credentialing into your curriculum. These in-person workshops are ideal for educators seeking to revitalize their teaching strategies, increase student engagement, or promote lifelong learning. Gain valuable tools and insights to transform your pedagogy and inspire a new generation of learners.
Through a series of interactive and engaging workshops, participants will be able to:
This session will cover the history and development of game-based learning and introduce instructors to a variety of game-based learning tools and their integration with the Canvas LMS where possible. Tools covered in this session will include Microsoft Forms as a gamification tool, Socrative, and a PowerPoint based "Jeopardy" game.
This session will discuss the numerous educational benefits of escape rooms in higher education classrooms. By presenting students with complex puzzles and challenges, escape rooms promote teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills. Participants will also learn the steps of creating their own digital escape room with Microsoft OneNote.
Create your own adventure using hot spot images, a dynamic tool that allows you to incorporate interactive elements into your course. You will explore different techniques for designing interactive elements and create your own adventure.
Credentials, Micro-Credentials, and Badges are all forms of educational recognition, differing in scope, depth, and application. This session will explore the similarities and differences between each of these and how they can be utilized for professional development and educational advancement.
Join us for a discussion of the University's current home-grown badging platform, and a discussion of other potential solutions.
