Two herds comprising 750 goats are working along the Clarksburg Branch Line Trail and further south near the Railroad Trestle for the next few days clearing high grass and weeds to reduce fire danger.

The herds will be in various locations in West Sacramento through late May 2024 tackling hard to reach high growth areas like the banks of the Barge Canal, Clarksburg Branch Line Trail, and along the river by the Tower Bridge. Come on out to visit… they will make your day!

The City hires the goats twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring, to help munch down vegetation in open spaces. The City of West Sacramento has been renting the environmentally friendly goats from Blue Tent Farms in Red Bluff since 2014.
