Deputy Minister Ioannis Kefalogiannis signed a JMD for the exemption from fares of the public means of transport for persons entitled by the Ministry of National Defence

The Deputy Minister of National Defence, Mr. Ioannis Kefalogiannis, signed on Friday 29 September 2023 a joint ministerial decision with the Deputy Ministers of Economy & Finance, and Infrastructure & Transportation on the travelling of persons entitled by the Ministry of National Defence to exemption fully or in part from the payment of fares by public means of transport operated by urban transport providers in the regions of Alexandria, Volos, Heraklion, Ioannina, Karditsa, Naousa, Patras, Stefanovikio, Chania, Trikala, Larisa and Lamia during 2024.

In accordance with the decision signed by the above Deputy Ministers, the persons fully exempted from the payment of transport fares are the following:

1. Soldiers performing military service under the provisions of the laws in force on military service, Potential Reserve Officers of the Armed Forces, as well as those recognized as conscientious objectors on civilian service in the regions of Alexandria, Volos, Heraklion, Ioannina, Karditsa, Naousa, Patras, Stefanovikio, Chania and Trikala;

2. Disabled persons falling within the competence of the Ministry of National Defence and their escorts (attendants), who reside in the regions of Larisa, Patras, Lamia and Ioannina.

Finally, the students of the Non-Commissioned Officers School are exempted from the payment of transport fares at half the normal rate in the means of public transport of Trikala region.
