Tiffany Oriental Poppy Lamp Lights Up Tiffany, Lalique & Art Glass Auction

DALLAS, Texas (October 13, 2021) - As if to prove the lesson we all learned in early science classes - that in order to grow, plants need water and light - a spectacular Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass and Bronze Oriental Poppy Lamp will shine brightly at Heritage Auctions' Tiffany, Lalique & Art Glass: Including Art Nouveau & Art Deco auction Oct. 28.

"What sets one Tiffany Studios lamp apart from others of the same model is the aesthetic choices made by the Glass Cutter, who selected glass pieces from the studios' massive repertoire and then carefully cut each tile to be incorporated into the design. The Oriental Poppy is a highly sought-after model due its complex, dynamic composition, and the example we offer is among the finest due to the glass selection," said Samantha Robinson, Consignment Director of Decorative Arts and Design. "Vibrant blossoms in a variety of red hues and verdant stems and leaves are against a turquoise ground with dazzling effect."

The spectacular Oriental Poppy lamp (estimate: $100,000-150,000) is among eight Tiffany Studios leaded glass lamps that will cross the auction block October 28. Other noteworthy lamps include:

Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass and Patinated Bronze Dragonfly Table Lamp, circa 1910 (estimate: $70,000-90,000) • Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass and Patinated Bronze Dogwood Table Lamp, circa 1910 (estimate: $40,000-60,000) • Rare Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass and Patinated Bronze Geometric Table Lamp, circa 1910 (estimate: $40,000-50,000) • Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass and Patinated Bronze Turtle-Back Table Lamp, circa 1910 (estimate: $25,000-35,000)

"We are honored to present a wide variety of fine Tiffany Studios lamps, from floral compositions like the Oriental Poppy and the Dogwood, to designer Clara Driscoll's classic Dragonfly design, to two distinctive Geometric examples," Robinson said. "Altogether the auction boasts more than 75 Tiffany Studios lots that demonstrate the astounding breadth of the firm's production, including glass, pottery, metalware and mosaic."

Other Tiffany Studios highlights include:

• A Rare & Fine Tiffany Studios Reactive Favrile Glass Tel El Amarna Paperweight Vase, circa 1910 (estimate: $6,000-8,000)
• A Rare Tiffany Studios Favrile Glass Perfume Bottle with Tiffany & Co. Silver Mount and Cover, circa 1900 (estimate: $3,000-5,000)
