Huntsville Music Office to host HSV Quarterly Meetup June 6

Published on June 1, 2023

Huntsville's music community is invited to network with fellow musicians and stakeholders at the upcoming HSV Quarterly Music Meetup on Tuesday, June 6.

The free networking event will run from 6-8 p.m. at Jeff & Blues, located next to The Orion Amphitheater. Concessions will be available for purchase.

Besides networking with fellow musicians and music lovers, attendees can meet with Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella and members of the Huntsville Music Board. Representatives from the Huntsville Hospital Music Therapy Program will also share insights on how music can provide healing to patients and their families.

The meetup will also promote Make Music Day on June 21, which is being sponsored by the Huntsville Music Office and Huntsville Hospital Music Therapy Program. The goal of Make Music Day Huntsville is to provide an equal platform for musicians of all skill levels, interests and walks of life and to inspire the next generation of music makers.

Participating is easy. The Make Music Day Huntsville website serves as an online "matchmaking" database for both artists and venues. Groups can create accounts and register either as a location interested in hosting a performer or as a performer seeking a venue.

Mandrella will also touch on several upcoming events, including Huntsville Music Month in September and the Music Cities Convention on Oct. 18-20. Event organizer Sound Diplomacy recently recognized Huntsville as Alabama's first Music City.

"Between Make Music Day and all the other events we have on the horizon, Huntsville's music scene is stronger than it's ever been," Mandrella said. "It's a testament to not only our talented artists, but also music fans and supporters who want to see us mentioned alongside places like Austin and Nashville. I feel good about what's ahead, and our music stakeholders should, too."
