Wealden Volunteering and 3VA receive financial support from Wealden District Council

Two Wealden charities, Wealden Volunteering and 3VA, have received £7,000 each to help support communities and volunteers through the cost-of-living pressures.

3VA is to deliver networking sessions and training to volunteers, to those who provide voluntary sector community warm spaces. 3VA will also coordinate and manage a micro grant scheme, which will offer small grants to providers of those warm/welcome spaces for them to enhance their provision and meet their specific needs.

Newly named Wealden Volunteering, previously Uckfield Volunteer Centre, is looking to expand their services to areas outside of Uckfield. The funding will help deliver services which promote and encourage people to volunteer and connects them to organisations across the district.

Councillor Rachel Millward (Alliance for Wealden, Green) who leads on Wealden's cost of living, said, "Many organisations across Wealden rely on volunteers. It is incredibly important to support those who are helping others in our communities. Our funding will mean that existing volunteers can learn new skills, whilst more residents who would like to volunteer will be given the opportunity, confidence, and connections to make this happen."

Judith Austin, CEO of Wealden Volunteering, said, "We are delighted to have the support of Wealden District Council in our endeavours. The money awarded will make a real difference to how we can support the many charities, non-profits and community interest groups in Wealden. These are difficult times for many people and volunteering is an important aspect in helping so many people."

John Williams, CEO of 3VA, said, "3VA will use the funding to work with Wealden District Council and other partners to support communities and volunteering in Wealden. The small grants scheme will enable us to give financial support exactly where its most needed in warm and welcoming community spaces."
