O'CONNELL INVITES COMMUNITY TO ATTEND WHITTENTON BLOCK PARTY

Taunton, MA…Today Mayor Shaunna O'Connell invited the residents of the City of Taunton to attend the Whittenton Day 2022 Block Party.

"We are excited to revive the neighborhood party Whittenton was once famous for hosting. There will be fun for people of all ages, so please stop by and help us celebrate a new revitalization era of our beloved Whittenton," said O'Connell.

The Block Party will take place on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 2:00pm-8:00pm. It will be held at the Broken Chains Biker Church located at 370 Bay Street, but will include a scavenger hunt with visits to neighborhood stores and businesses.

This family-friendly Block Party will feature:

  • Musical Entertainment
  • Obstacle Course
  • Bouncy House
  • Water Slide
  • Scavenger Hunt and Prizes
  • Snacks and Refreshments

Parking will be available at Reed & Barton's parking lots on West Britannia Street with a trolley provided to shuttle visitors to the event free of charge.

This event is being funded by a grant from MassDevelopment and organized by the Whittenton Neighborhood Community Partnership. The Partnership was recently established with help from MassDevelopment's Transformative Development Initiative (TDI) aimed at facilitating neighborhood revitalization efforts over a three-year period. This is the first neighborhood festival Whittenton has hosted in nearly 20 years, but the Partnership hopes to restore the annual tradition.
