Local elections take place on Thursday 2 May 2024 in Knowsley.

In addition, elections for the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner and the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Metro Mayor also take place on Thursday 2 May 2024.

For any election taking place from 2 May 2024, anyone returning postal votes by hand (rather than posting via Royal Mail) must complete a postal vote return form, otherwise their postal votes will be rejected.

This is a new requirement under the Elections Act 2022.

The new rules also specify that an individual may hand in a maximum of six (6) electors' postal votes (ie their own and five others) per poll unless they are a campaigner.

If an individual is a campaigner, they may only handle their own postal vote and those which belong to close family members or people for whom they provide care.

Support is available to anyone who wishes to hand in postal votes directly at the Council's Municipal Building in Huyton to complete the relevant form. On election day (2 May), this will include staff based in the polling stations.

In the meantime, if you have a postal vote which you wish to hand in, please email [email protected] or telephone 0151 443 2222.

For your postal vote to be counted, it must be posted via Royal Mail or handed directly to an authorised officer and a postal vote return form completed.
