Village Receives $2.5 Million in Community Project Funding

The Village has been notified that $2.5 million in Community Project Funding, resulting from recently passed federal appropriation legislation, has been awarded to address sewer rehabilitation needs. The funding was secured through the efforts of Congressman Chuy Garcia (IL-04) and Congressman Sean Casten (IL-06) in the amounts of $2 million, and $500,000 respectively.

"We are extremely thankful to Congressman Garcia and Congressman Casten for securing this funding for the Village," said President Mark Kuchler. "Through their efforts, much-needed funding will go towards improving our sewer system and protecting resident's homes. The Village Board and I have been tirelessly pursuing relief for La Grange residents that suffer from flooding. Bringing these funds back to the district help us address those concerns, re-invested into vital sewer systems and support the local economy," he added.

The funding will go towards storm and combined sanitary sewer rehabilitation in the Village's South Basin, which is the area south of 47th Street. Rehabilitation efforts will include evaluating and rehabbing these sewer systems to ensure optimal functionality which in turn improves resiliency against flooding and stormwater. The work will address overland flooding due to the presence of Des Plaines Tributary A in that area.

This project will include limited excavation, point repairs, and the installation of cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) which is a trenchless repair technique that makes use of an epoxy-embedded liner that is inserted in the pipe and heat-cured in place; effectively doubling the service life of the sewer segment and preventing costlier repair in the future.
