Frederick County Seeks Public Input On Middletown to Myersville Pedestrian & Bicycle Connection

FREDERICK, Md. - Frederick County's Division of Planning & Permitting encourages the community to provide input on the feasibility of pedestrian and bicycle facilities between The City of Frederick, New Market, and Mt. Airy, to provide the community with more opportunities to access healthy recreation and alternative transportation options. A community meeting is scheduled in November, and a survey is being conducted to gather feedback.

This feasibility study will develop multiple alternative routes that follow roads, stream corridors, rails to trails, and utility rights-of-way to create a long and continuous path without significant land use impacts. The study provides the community with more opportunities to access healthy recreation and alternative transportation options, and move closer to the vision of a Livable Frederick County. In addition, it will also consider Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility, potential impacts to environmental features, and the cost and feasibility of construction to identify a preferred alternative that maximizes connections to existing pedestrian and bicycle facilities, parks, schools, existing and planned development, and other points of interest.

The public is invited to provide feedback in-person from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, November 7th at the New Market Middle School (address: 125 W Main Street, New Market, MD 21774) or online by taking the online survey using: https://publicinput.com/h6344. Informational materials will be set up in the cafeteria on the main level and representatives will be available to discuss the project.
