Council Member Eileen Wang Receives Award

On Saturday, April 13, Council Member Eileen Wang was recognized by Representative Judy Chu at the annual Congressional Women of the Year Awards Ceremony. This recognition served as a tribute to the remarkable women driving progress and change across the San Gabriel Valley.

"It's a tremendous honor to represent the Arcadia community in this capacity," said Council Member Wang. "I'm deeply passionate about our community and committed to making it the best it can be. Seeing women unite with a shared purpose to prioritize our community was inspiring. Together, we'll work for a brighter, more inclusive future for all."

Council Member Wang has dedicated over 15 years to serving the community, demonstrating remarkable involvement in various service groups, exceptional fundraising abilities and advocacy for public safety. Most recently, she was elected as the city council member representing the third district of Arcadia.

In 2022, Eileen Wang ran for City Council to advocate for her neighborhood and to have a bigger impact on Arcadia's future. Her election also marked a historic moment as the Arcadia City Council became majority female for the first time. Following her election to public office, Council Member Wang hit the ground running, immediately spearheading new initiatives like a memorial concert for the victims of the Monterey Park mass shooting, offering mental health resources to help the community cope with the tragedy. Currently serving on the Health Committee, Council Member Wang and Mayor Pro Tem Cao collaborate to bring monthly health seminars to Arcadia, helping make health education more accessible to the whole community. In addition, Council Member Wang remains connected with her district by hosting Community Conversations to discuss issues that matter to her constituents.

Council Member Wang fosters collaborative relationships across various sectors, from schools to businesses. She has been an active member of organizations such as the Arcadia Rotary Club, Arcadia Chamber of Commerce, Arcadia Lions Club, Arcadia Association of Realtors and the Arcadia High School Chinese Parents Booster Club. From 2008 to 2010, Council Member Wang served on the Camino Grove Elementary School Parent Teacher Association. In 2012, she spearheaded the organization of a local neighborhood watch program in Arcadia. She served as President of the American Southwest Chamber of Commerce USA from 2018 to 2022. During her tenure, she founded the US Sun Foundation, which has played a pivotal role in raising support for local children and their families.

With a deep passion for education, Council Member Wang has served as the owner of Tutorial Services in Arcadia for over 15 years. She firmly believes that a strong education is essential for the ongoing success of individuals, future generations, and the broader community.

The award ceremony took place at the Arcadia Community Center, where the entire City Council was present to congratulate Council Member Wang on her award. In its 14th year, this award recognizes women nominated by individuals from their own cities and communities across the San Gabriel Valley, honoring their significant contributions to the community.
